2.  Town Notices:

Nomination Papers are now available for the June 13th, 2017 Elections.  Nominations are available for:

Two – 3-year Terms for Selectman
One – 3-year Term for MSAD #8 Director (School Board)
One – 3-year Term for Water District Trustee

Interested candidates must collect not less than 25, nor more than 100 signatures of registered voters to be placed on the June 13th, 2017 ballot.  The deadline for submitting nomination papers back to the Town Office is Monday, May 1st, 2017. 

WE CAN NOW ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS!  Credit card payments are made through a third-party payment processor, Maine PayPort, and each payment made through the service will incur a PayPort fee. A $1.00 fee will be charged for payments totaling $40.00 or less, and a 2.5% fee will be charged for payments over $40.00.

Apply now for the 2017 Maine Moose Permit Lottery –please visit www.mefishwildlife.com.  The deadline for online applications is 11:59 p.m. on May 15, 2017.  The moose permit drawing will take place on June 17th, 2017 at Caribou Parks and Recreation. 

Board & Committee Openings:  Budget Committee; Fireworks Committee, Historical Society Building Committee, Lane’s Island Stewardship Committee; Planning Board; Planning Commission; and Sewer Commission.  For more information regarding any of these vacancies, please visit the Town Office or contact Andrew Dorr.  

Parking Lot Maintenance Any gear, equipment, abandoned boats, trailers, etc… will be subject to a fine if left longer than 48 hours.  Any boats or unregistered cars will be fined $10/day until removed.  If any of the aforementioned has been removed by the town and you are looking for it, contact Andy Dorr at the Town Office or by calling 863-2042.  Please help keep the wharfs clear. 

Assessor/CEO/LPI – Jacki Robbins is in the office on Wednesdays from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. 

TAX BILLS FOR 2016-2017 were mailed in August, the first half payment was due by November 1st, 2016.  Interest began to accrue on November 2nd, 2016.   The second half is due by May 1st, 2017.

“Do you favor authorizing the School Board of Maine School Administrative District No. 8 (the “District”) to construct and equip a playground and related site improvements at Vinalhaven School, including the installation of playground equipment and a soft playground surface (the “Project”); to issue bonds or notes in the name of this District for the Project in an amount not to exceed $470,000; and to derive the balance of Project costs by expending not more than $118,000 from the Capital Reserve Fund?”
